Sarnia, Ontario—It took four weeks to sort books for their giant sale last fall, but members of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Women’s League in Sarnia, Ontario, are happy they did. Our Lady of Mercy CWL president Phyllis Vanoverbeke said they announced the sale to a cluster of parishes in Sarnia and received a tremendous response.

The League is donating the$700 book sale proceeds to support Catholic Missions In Canada’s projects.

Co-convenors for the salewere CWL members Bridget McKeon and Elsie Seward, who’s also a Faithful Steward with Catholic Missions In Canada.

CWL ships knitted goods to CMIC

River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia—The Catholic Women’s League of St. John the Baptist parish in River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia, shipped knitted goods for the Northern missions recently. Deirdre Boyd, Spiritual Development chairperson, and Elaine Burke, president of St. John the Baptist CWL in River Bourgeois, pose behind the display of goods collected as an Advent project in the parish. One of their avid knitters was Leo Landry, an 80-year-old supporter on oxygen, who, upon hearing about the project, put hands and knitting needles to work. Leo knitted a great number of articles for “Knits for the North.”
