E-Book: Walk with Us for a While, By Molly Callaghan – Available Online here on Oct. 15!
In the early 1990s, Catholic Missions In Canada financially supported the missionary work of Deacon Bill and Molly Callaghan in the First Nations community of Sandy Lake in Northern Ontario.
In this memoir, Molly Callaghan shares their love of God and their love for the community of Sandy Lakers they served.
Mission of Jesus alive and well in the North
It is often said, “The shortest distance between a person and a truth is a story.” Molly Callaghan’s book of memories, Walk with Us for a While, is just such. As the stories unfold, one is given a clear picture of both Church and community life in circumstances quite unfamiliar to most people. The people in the Northern part of our country are a people proud of who they are, what they have, and what they are able to do.
Something else which surfaces in the stories is a reminder of Jesus’ parable of the yeast in the Mass. One sees clearly how there have been few, but very dedicated missionaries-women and men-who have given of themselves and made extraordinary contributions to the life and faith of so many people. Again, unknown to many, one receives a clear picture of how the mission of Jesus is alive and well under the glow of the Northern Lights.
